The Armstrong Carriage House, a member of The Romantic Inns of Savannah, will take you back to the period of horses and carriages where activities such as making time to greet each other, enjoying home cooking in a relaxed atmosphere, having a cocktail, and unwinding in a private courtyard were common to folks living in our Historic District.
Our History
The Armstrong Carriage House is part of a Certified Historic Property, period 1888, the residence of Monique and William Armstrong. William came to Savannah in 1999 with the movie production “The Legend of Bagger Vance” directed by Robert Redford. He fell in love with the Historic District and, in a heartbeat, moved his Manhattan art studio and residence to Savannah. Since 2001, Monique shares her love of old Southern living with art & history lovers staying at the Carriage House or at their other historic properties located nearby. The Southern hospitality goes a long way at the Armstrong’s.
